take two

did someone say storyline?? i actually finished this one before the first one but oh well

It had taken a few days of on and off filming but Keenan had finally warmed up to the idea of a show being filmed at Vechnyy. It had turned out to be more involved than them acting and riding and the man welcomed a chance to explain his training methods. Today he was out withn Vic, sending the roan Obertaurer over the canter poles left in the arena. As he circled the horse Jack, the grey-haired cameraman in the arena with him, waved him over. 

"So what are you doing with her here?" The man asked, reaching out to pat Vic neck as the filly stretched out. "And whats the equipment you're using?"

Keenan laughed as the horse lipped at the camera. "As a rule, Vechnyy uses the least amount of equipment possible. You wont find a martingale, crop, or spurs anywhere in this stables. We do all our training at least bitless and usually tackless or from the ground. These horses already know what to do, only the ones just starting under saddle or training for a competition are ridden more than once a week. This girl is too young to be ridden so she's doing mainly in-hand work with the cordeo; getting used to paying attention to whats she's doing over the poles and paying attention to her handler." 

He paused as the horse next to him let out a loud neigh, greeting the animal just entering the arena. "Vic here is gonna be a jumper so she needs to be really balanced at a canter or there's no way she could be ridden confidently. She's young too so at this point all you want her to do is listen to you and lunging really helps with the voice cues. And the poles are just to help her pace herself cause she's a baby and rushes things." As Jack turned to see the other pair in the arena Keke led Vic back to the poles, clicking to her as she jogged hastily over the beams beneath her.
